Las Salinas del Carmen, situated on the Costa de Antigua, is a Site of Cultural Interest and is the only salt pan still in operation on the island.
Furthermore, it is an area of great environmental value and a Special Protection Area for birds (SPA), and forms part of the ‘Fuerteventura Cetacean Trail’.
